WANT TO RENT A BOAT?
We have a choice of trips ready to accommodate beginning or intermediate skill levels. This is a great river to learn on and pretty enough to keep the experts coming back.

| City Park to Westerfield Crossing | San Marcos City Park downriver to Westerfield Crossing (Hays County Road #266) is the most suitable run for beginning boaters and/or intermediate paddlers with small children in the boat. This is a 6 mile, leisurely three or four hour paddle with two to three portages | $30.00 | ||
| Shady Grove to Staples | This five-mile section is an intermediate level due to a few strainers. A boater needs the paddling experience to read the river and recognize that a hazard might be around the next curve. It is a leisurely two and a half to three hour trip with no portages. | $30.00 | ||
| Skull's Crossing to Shady Grove | Short trip, but gives a nice combination of flat water at the beginning and a little taste of rapids at the end. This trip is two miles and takes a leisurely hour. There is one portage around Martindale dam. | $20.00 | ||
| Play at Shady Grove (no shuttles) | Rent a canoe or kayak and play on the river as long as you like without our taking advantage of our shuttle service. | $15.00 | ||
| Play at Staples Lake | For the very least challenging paddle available. Very scenic with no moving water at all. ( 1.5 mi. ) |

Group rates: $5/boat discount starting with the fifth boat.
CANOE DEPOSIT
All reservations must be accompanied by a $15.00 per boat deposit. Deposit is refunded with 48 hours notice, or bad weather here in Martindale. We work by reservations since we have a limited fleet and do not always have the required personnel on duty; therefore walk-ins are not guaranteed service. On the day of your rental, the "damage deposit" is $150.00 per canoe. This figure includes $100.00 as the maximum liability for accidental damage to the canoe or loss of paddles and life jackets, and a $50.00 retrieval fee.
You may keep the boat all day if you like, but you must be back to Shady Grove and checked in by our closing time OR you lose your $15.00 deposit plus $15.00 an hour thereafter because our rescue people have to stay on duty until all the people have safely returned.

WANT CERTIFIED INSTRUCTION?
Our ACA and Red Cross certified canoe (Mike) and ACA certified kayak (Jack) instructors teach canoeing and kayaking on a charter basis. You decide the size of your group, whether you want one-on-one kayak roll lessons, or an experienced river guide for twenty canoes filled with forty Scouts and their leaders -- and we will accommodate you.
INSTRUCTOR FEE: $25.00 per hour per instructor divided among the group. For more than four boats per instructor, add $5.00 per hour per additional boat.
